Women’s entrepreneurship programme strategy development

We provided strategic advice on a ‘Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs and Start-ups by Women’ implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Indian on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The project is referred to as “Her and Now” This project involved authoring An Analysis of Women Entrepreneurship in India Current Profile, Future Landscape and Recommendations for Policymakers and Implementing Partners.

This was informed by an earlier engagement with the precursor project, which involved conducting stakeholder consultation workshops at Sankalp, and bilateral interviews to create a landscape report on gender lens investing and incubation in India

This involved piloting an incubation approach to convene peer learning between Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) focused on products and services that target women.

“Women entrepreneurs in India have the potential to boost the country’s economy and simultaneously enhance the level of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment – essential for sustainable economic development and poverty alleviation.”
