Gender & Finance

Financial inclusion is a key enabler of women’s economic empowerment yet to achieve this goal its essential to address the persistent global financial inclusion gender gap.

Accelerating women’s financial inclusion requires action from policy makers, regulators and financial service providers to address constraints to women clients’ financial access and usage.

We work across the financial sector to ensure the business case for serving women clients is understood, sex-disaggregated customer data is collected, and financial products are designed for diverse women’s market segments.

We advocate for gender-responsive financial policies and regulation to be put in place and implemented in practice.

For example, for women’s financial inclusion and gender consideration to be integrated into national financial inclusion strategies and in policy frameworks that implement global Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) standards.

Moreover, we recognise that gender is material to financial decision-making and advocate gender-lens investing as an approach to deliver financial and gender equality returns for different types of investors across the spectrum of capital.
